Are you looking for an opportunity to work on innovative products while creating a positive impact? If you feel passionately about saving lives and would like to develop a product that will revolutionise healthcare, you could be Nutromics’ next Firmware Engineer!

 

In this role, you will perform firmware design and development work to support the research, development, and commercialisation of Nutromics’ novel wearable sensing platform technology. You will also support the Lead Electrical Engineer with circuit design for electrochemical sensors.

 

Qualifications

  • Degree qualification in engineering or equivalent discipline.

 

Skills and Experience

  • 2+ years of practical and demonstratable experience in developing firmware for embedded electronic systems in a commercial context
  • Practical and demonstrable experience with designing analog front ends with op-amps, DACs, and ADCs
  • Familiarity with architecture principles for embedded systems, implementation within IDEs or command-line tools, and version control
  • Experience integrating hardware and software
  • Experience designing applications on microcontroller devices
  • Familiarity with wireless communication protocols such as Bluetooth
  • Familiarity with medical device development process
  • Self-motivated, with an ability to work autonomously and creatively
  • Ability to discuss and defend design choices
  • Willingness to learn and adapt in a rapidly changing environment

 

Responsibilities

  • Design of firmware to meet system requirements specifications
  • Design of circuits to meet system requirements specifications
  • C programming on embedded devices
  • Liaising with suppliers to produce prototype devices for testing
  • Documenting test protocols for hardware and firmware subunits
  • Execution of test protocols for hardware and firmware subunits
  • Execution of integration tests for hardware and firmware
  • Documentation of test results in test reports
  • Assisting with precompliance and compliance testing for RF immunity, RF emissions, electrical safety, and other requirements of harmonised standards
  • Maintenance and calibration of equipment
  • Collaborate on device integration with chemistry and fabrication teams
